As you will be aware, the NHS is currently facing an unprecedented situation regarding the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.
Due to the very low number of patients attending the minor injury units across Herefordshire and Worcestershire and in order to ensure patient safety and enable key staff to be redeployed to support the COVID-19 response at the hospitals, the decision has been made to temporarily close this service in the following units this week:
The Minor Injury Units in Ross-on-Wye and Leominster in Herefordshire which were temporarily closed in November 2019 to support winter pressures will also now remain closed to support the response.
The Minor Injury Units in Malvern and Bromsgrove remain open and the Minor Injury Unit in Kidderminster is working under reduced opening times as publicised last week, these are 8am-8pm.
This means that the staff who currently work at the MIUs can be redeployed to other accident and emergency departments. This is important and helps us to maintain safe staffing levels, due to increasing numbers of NHS staff who are self-isolating, due to the recent national advice.
For those patients who require urgent medical help please use the MIUs remaining open or contact NHS 111 online (https://111.nhs.uk/), or attend the MIUs in Malvern or Bromsgrove.
Signage at the MIUs listed above will advise patients of the alternative options.
We will advise you when services will return to usual opening hours.
Please share this information with your contacts and networks, as appropriate.
Many thanks for your co-operation, at this challenging times
